Plants that get on perfectly
Steven W. , who garden in western Washington State ( Zone 8b ) with his gardening partner , Sandy Lynch , sent in these range of some inspired works combination from his dreamy garden . If you missed his garden last time we featured it , be certain to check it out here .
Purple coneflower ( Echinacea purpurea , Zones 3–9 ) and bigleaf hydrangea ( Hydrangea macrophylla , Zones 6–9 ) look absolutely perfect together . Hydrangeas , famously , are grim on acidic stain and pinker on alkaline soils because they postulate aluminum to make the blue pigment and it is well-heeled for plants to take in aluminum from soil if it is acidulent . This hydrangea is racy just blush into garden pink in a way that complements the bright Battle of Magenta tones of the coneflower perfectly .
A brilliant yellow Asiatic lily(Lilium , Asian radical , zone 5–8 ) looks all the brighter for being set against the background of a dark pinkish - purpleness astilbe ( Astilbesp . , Zones 4–8 ) .

Dreamy blue bigleaf hydrangea look like a small-arm of sky has drop behind soft pinkish garden phlox ( Phlox paniculata , Zones 4–8 ) and brilliant rosaceous silene ( Lychnis coronaria , Zones 3–9 ) .
A appeal of bright daisies , include intercrossed coneflowers ( Echinaceahybrids , Zones 3–9 ) and a cheery black - eyed susan ( Rudbeckia fulgida , Zones 3–9 ) .
Pure clean delphinium ( Delphinium elatum , Zones 2–7 ) with a soft lavender aster .

A background of deep royal aster makes this zinnia ( Zinnia elegans , annual ) see all the brighter .
