Favorite blooms from this dependable group of plants
My name is Diana Johnson . I garden in Salt Lake City , Utah , in Zone 5b . We live at 4,300 feet with hot , dry summers and cold , snowy winter . GPOD has help sustain me through several long winter mornings , but this is my first submission . My first serious garden began 25 years ago in our home near Chapel Hill , North Carolina , Zone 7b . We ’ve made several moves since then , each clip learning to correct to new conditions : ground type , pH , temperature , humidness , and pests . It ’s been a true eruditeness experience , at clock time frustrating , but always exciting . I have garden at our current place for tight to four year . Our last move lend us from a totally undeveloped 1 - acre plot of ground of newly reclaim farm res publica with no shade , to a one-quarter - acre suburban yard with two very turgid shade trees . The one constant in our garden has been daylilies(Hemerocallis , Zones 3–9 ) , and this yr has been a banner twelvemonth . plant have moved with us from our last two garden , and most were institute in 2017 . I ’m including a figure of my favorite in this Emily Post .
Daylily ‘ Hyperion ’ , an older steady-going standby . It is a midseason bloomer that look like a field full of sunshine .
This beauty came to me many twelvemonth ago from an old - meter daylily cultivator . I have no idea what it ’s name is , but it ’s a treasure .

‘ Lullaby Baby ’ is small in stature , about 19 in grandiloquent , but beautiful en masse and a greatfront - of - the - boundary line plant . Its flower petal are a soft light smasher , disperse with sparkles , with ruffled edge . It ’s outside my front door , where I can see it every day .
We did n’t institute our garden specifically forpollinators , but hummingbird and bees of all form screw it . This bee is already covered with pollen and is going in for more in this ‘ Hyperion ’ bloom .
The front left bloom are ‘ Fairy Tale Pink ’ , an former midseason rebloomer and another good front - of - the - border choice . It is a fleck tall and larger than ‘ Lullaby Baby ’ , with pinky peach petals and a unripened pharynx . In the background are more ‘ Hyperion ’ , a pinkish Bonica arise ( pink wine are my other flower obsession ) , and aninebark(Physocarpus opulifolius , zone 3–7 ) . I ca n’t remember the variety .

The name says it all : ‘ Primal Scream ’ . Medium tall , it has large , bright efflorescence .
This white-livered spider - form daylily is always the first to bloom in my garden , a lawful herald of fountain . It is another gift of unnamed name .
There ’s no daylily in this exposure , but a happy hummingbird on azinnia(Zinnia elegans , annual ) .

‘ Fairy Tale Pink ’ daylily with a backcloth of Rainbow MarcellaEchinacea(Zones 4–9 )
‘ Condilla ’ is a superstar daylily . It is medium tall , with twofold gold flowers that bloom and bloom . Note the bee in the center field of this photo .
‘ Peek - a - boo ’ . This is a small daylily in its first class . I had only one blossom , but it ’s a true treasure that I can scarcely hold back to see all farm up .
