As an editor program atFine Gardening , I ’ve taken quite a few of the photos of the “ perfect garden ” in glossy magazines that multitude complain about on a perennial footing . People say that gardens like that do n’t exist , that they do n’t show the substantial world of gardening that ’s full of bugs , heat , and clash colors .
I beg to differ .
When I ’m in one of those “ perfect gardens ” with my camera at 6 ante meridiem , agitate off mosquitoes that should still be in layer , it ’s perfectly obvious to me that this is a “ real garden ” created by a literal , passionate , gifted , and exalt gardener . They just pass off to be really well at what they do , and it establish . If I ’m lucky , and I often am , they ’re out there with me as I snap off , declare oneself me coffee berry and insights into how they create such a joy of a garden . They have dirty fingernails , too . And permanently stained pant knees , aching backs , and a long , farsighted list of plant they ’ve killed .

As a writer , I like to read really good writing , better than mine will ever be . I can learn from it , aim to its level . Same go with the horticulture information I crave . I require to be inspired . I want to see the success that do from yr of trial and error . We may think we need to see the “ real side of gardening . ” But in realism , we already are .
