A fitting garden for a historic house
Today Carolyn Hirning is taking us along on a trip-up to a beautiful garden she visited in June .
I thought you might wish to see photograph from a visit to Akron , Ohio , in June 2021 . This was my first trip since the start of the pandemic , so that in itself was pretty exciting .
Our first night aside from home was at the beautiful O’Neil House B&B. We planned to visit the Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens the next 24-hour interval , and to our pleasure , we observe that the O’Neil House was a mini version of Stan Hywet .

The owner of the O’Neil House is Gayle Johnson , a adorable woman who is now in her mid-80s . Forty years ago , she buy the decrepit mansion and freshen up it almost entirely by herself — no husband , no children , just her patience and persistence . ( Well , yes , she did engage help for the big projects , such as a Modern roof . )
I wish I had taken more photo of Gayle ’s sign of the zodiac , but I was in love with the serene garden area .
one C of thousands of citizenry have visited the well - know Stan Hywet , but if you want to invalidate the crowds and even live in a attractively renovated Tudor mansion , then the O’Neil House is the place to go !

The beautiful formal garden purpose gibe with the geezerhood of the historic building . Everything is lucullan and attractively uphold .
A facial expression at the water feature article , disperse with the leaves of water lily ( Nymphaeasp . , Zones 5–9 )
braggy , “ grim ” Funka ( Hostahybrids , Zones 4–9 ) add a contrast note to many shade of green in the garden .

The statue at the edge of the water feature an inviting garden walk behind it .
This path begs to be explored . The shrubs barricade the view of what come next , making the garden feel prominent .
expect back at the Greco-Roman computer architecture of the Tudor mansion , garden , and house in perfect harmony

There is something witching about these steps lead on to another part of the garden .
Stone pavers lend a touch sensation of formality to a woodland walk .
