It ’s exciting to confabulate a new garden , and this one did n’t disappoint . TheGardens at HCPconsists of 9 acres of demonstration gardens and 100 Acre of a conservation park . The garden were originally named the Horticulture Centre of the Pacific , then were rename Glendale Gardens and Woodlands , and now are know as the Gardens at HCP .
The Takata Nipponese Garden opened in 1998 and is the largest garden at HCP , with a Zen garden and a ceremonial tea home . The bonsai garden was established in 2013 . The late George Heffelfinger was a long - time HCP supporter and a key player in creating this garden . Several bonsai from his assemblage are on showing here . Some of the Vancouver Island Bonsai Society members volunteer their sentence maintaining this amazing garden .
