Every year at the Ozark Folk Center ’s HHFF , we lionize different regions of the ball and see how they relate back to the Ozarks . This year we celebrated some of the tropical sphere and had a Caribbean - Style Lavish Herbal Feast and two days of inspiring educational programs featuring Mexico , the countries on the Isthmus of Central America and the many island in the Caribbean .
In preparation for these consequence , we start planning as soon as the last one is over since the gardens need to feature plants from the regions choose , as well as the chosen herb of the class . Then we have to do research to make menus , recipes and programs , as well as select speakers that bind it all together .

Besides naturalise botanic specimens from the Torrid Zone , this twelvemonth we created ajunglain the Heritage Herb Garden – a rainforest hobo camp under shade trees – with many of the plant life that we are familiar with as houseplants in this climate , grown in containers outdoors . Also since Cilantro & Coriander are Herb of the Year 2017 , and a popular herbaceous plant in many of the culinary art of these countries , we cultivated them as well as other plants used in place ofCoriandrum sativum , that have alike savor . The chile pepper bed contains many showy fellow member of theCapsicumgenus , which draw in visitors to the park with their colorful array of fruits and we used in the food and medal .
The lobby was decorated with many tables – including one with foods , textiles , spice and herbs from these countries – many vendors and of course the raffle detail from the Committee of 100 , as well as their baskets of goodies to try , and the still auction by the HSA - Ozark Unit . We appreciate the hard work of these dedicated supporters as well as all of the OFC stave who facilitate to pull these events together .
We had a superb line - up of speaker system – Dr. Art Tucker , Steven Foster , Kathleen Connole , Pat Kenny and yours really – with lots of on - stage fun , where we learned so much it is arduous to process it in a weekend . We had a capital tour of the plant throughout the craft village with Tina Marie Wilcox and the other gardener and verbaliser , which everyone seemed to really enjoy .
