If you grow it from a seed , how long does it take a jackfruit to brook ?
Carey McCain of CorJen Farm in Lakeland showed up in the confab of last night ’s Goodstream to share his success growing a seedling jackfruit tree in Lakeland . Lakeland is too far northward to grow jackfruit – or so we have been told – but so far , so unspoiled !
At two years old , his jackfruit tree seedling is blooming .

Pete Kanaris / GreenDreamsFL on YouTube describe in 2017 that his greenhouse - grown jackfruit was fruit at 18 month of eld :
It appears that jackfruit have the ability to bear fruit at an exceptionally young eld compare to many other seedling fruit trees .
Here are more pictures of Corey ’s jackfruit tree in Lakeland :

take note the flowers in the top two photos , and the shower drumhead in the bottom photo . That is Corey ’s frost protection system . On a freezing night , he can ferment on the tap and keep the tree warm with a unvarying bath until the rainfall have break .
I asked about how he arise his jackfruit tree from seed and he write :
“ From a fruit in a Oriental grocery store . I in the beginning implant 5 seeds directly in the smear . Cut worms aim out 4 of them and one survived . The tree was almost destroyed by Irma . I cover it and put heat lamp inside for the 2018 freeze . It then grew insane last year as we had phonograph recording break rain . mature about 10 foot last yr . We do not have a peculiar microclimate on our prop other than an awing windbreak to the north from industrial building which you’re able to see in the video . I forgot to mention we are near the airport if you know the location of Lakeland . On the far west side just outside of town . I supervise conditions and microclimate on my property and we are often 1 - 3 grade cooler than in the city . All my trees are on mound because of exceedingly in high spirits urine tabular array and flooding . Very cloggy mulching in enceinte areas . The soil to build mounds is a muck grunge , sinister and holds moisture well , buy from a local company , not typical Florida sugar gumption . Most of our native , dimension land is good than medium Florida cabbage sand . These contextual details certainly run a persona in the Tree vigorous growth . I plan to let the tree acquire as big as it can , test to get mass for added dusty protection . One daylight it will get lop from a frost but I will protect the lower portion of the tree diagram as much as potential . We had no halt this year . God bless ! ”

At this point , I would probably hold on that tree diagram from getting much bigger , as a large jackfruit tree is hard to keep protect .
AsFairchild Tropical Gardens share :
“ Jackfruit trees will organise a courtly , slow and rounded canopy with a lower limit of stimulation , but horticultural direction is necessary to maintain a small , sizeable and productive tree . With annual pruning the tree diagram is easy maintained at a height and spreading of six to eight feet . Pruning should be done once per year postdate harvesting of the major crop , or towards the end of the growing time of year . ”

Corey may want to just lease it get huge , though . There ’s nothing more beautiful than a full - develop jackfruit tree .
Reports I ’ve read on-line title it usually takes 3 - 5 age for a seedling Artocarpus heterophyllus to support yield ; however , it ’s obvious that with good charge it can make yield earlier .
If you ’re interested in started your own jack from seminal fluid , in 2017 I post a video on how I evolve jackfruit seeds :

I ’m also planting jackfruit seeds on my novel dimension , aright in the ground so they get maximal ascendent growing :
When I was over at the dry land two 24-hour interval ago , I was proud of to see some of these seeds had sprouted . With proper care , I should have some yield in just a couple of age .
