1 . Put grit in the stem of your containerto create really good drainage and lay off the compost wash out the drainage holes .

2 . Fill with territory about 2/3rds of the way up . Mix in some more grit with the compost to keep it nice and aeriform .

3 . Take your plants and arrange them . It ’s better to entrust them in the pots for now so you may move them about .

Use the one that drape near the border – erigeron is robe here , and try not to localize the same semblance together ( unless you ’ve opted for a pinkish or majestic only planter ) .

Leave blank between each industrial plant for ontogenesis . I ’ve left out aubrieta and campanula for now as there is n’t enough way and they are spreaders . If something does n’t take , I ’ll supersede it with one of them .

4 . Take the plants out of the pot and reside them on the soil . Do they still face well ? If not move them around . Take your time here and look at the plantation owner from all angle .

5 . Now it ’s time to plant them . There ’s no need to dig , just place more compost around the base until they are buried and mildly press down so the roots get contact with the soil .

Take handfuls of grit and arrange it straight on top of the land . Go easy and lift up leaves so you may get the grit mightily up to the roots .

Top dress not only looks good , it break wet compost splashing onto the foliage when it rains and prevent the parting resting on damp soil . Top dressing also aid drain and reflects heat onto the heat loving alpine plants . by all odds top dress !

9 . This is your alpine planter so add any extras you like .

I ’m a fossil devotee so I ’ve pop a few ammonites here . You could add small ornaments , fairy household , Greek style miniskirt urn , whatever your vibe – go for it .

10 . All done !
