A cottage garden in New Jersey
Today we ’re off to southern New Jersey to travel to Laura Boissonnault ’s beautiful garden .
Laura ’s house is a compound - style home built in 1920 , and her amatory , cottage - gardendesign complements the construction dead .
Soft pink hydrangea ( Hydrangeamacrophylla , Zones 6–9 ) and blueclematis(Clematishybrid , freehanded - flowered chemical group , Zones 5–9 ) glow against smart lily-white fencing material .

Even the vegetable garden is beautiful , with a soft lulu - colorize calendula ( Calendulaofficinalis , one-year ) blooming in the foreground . Calendula is beautiful , and the petals are edible as well .
Alternating clumps of salvia ( Salvianemorosa , Zones 3–8 ) and pink sea parsimony ( Armeriamaritima , Zones 4–8 ) bloom against a white fence .
This part of the garden is all soft pink from roses and annuals .

Pots of geraniums ( Pelargoniumhybrid , annual ) efflorescence on the front whole tone . It is clear that Laura is very serious-minded about the colors she take in the garden , leaning heavy on pinks , blue devil , and purples to a create calm , unified color narrative .
Is there any more romantic elbow room to receive citizenry into the garden than a rosebush - traverse arch ?
Moreclimbing rosesblooming on a whitetrellis . climb rosiness do n’t cling to their supports the way true vines do , so each of the long stems has to be cautiously tie into place to create a display like this , and Laura has done it beautifully . The wakeful blusher color on the wall and white trellis provide the perfect background for the glowing rose blooms .

voiced pinkdahlias(Dahliavariabilis , Zones 8–10 or as a tender bulb ) open up their Brobdingnagian , many - petaled blooms . The view of the garden beyond shows that this is n’t a immense garden out in the rural area but asmaller spacewith many close neighbor houses , but Laura has used that quad perfectly to make a magical garden .
What better way to end a visit to this garden than with a view of the glow sky in indulgent pastel color that reverberate the prime in the garden itself ?
