SixOnSaturday
Sigh . Back at piece of work then , how tedious ! On the plus side , some form of culinary normalcy has been restored , that brings a certain amount of relief . Anyhow , time for this hebdomad ’s edition of Six on Saturday . Six thing , in the garden , on a Saturday . Could be anything – a prime , a pest , a success , a labor , a architectural plan , an abject failure – anything at all ! connect in !
Here are my Six for this week …

1 – Sedum shoots . Still languishing in a raft , this sedum ‘ fall joy ’ was a pity judiciary leverage , mainly for the bargain , but also partly nostalgia . I had one of these in an older garden probably 20 long time ago . I almost like the emerging new shoots as much as the result plant . They resemble bantam cabbages .
2 – Daffodil not - quite - blossom . So near and yet so far . Within a hebdomad , I forecast we ’ll see this blossom emerge . It ’s your canonic daff , minding its own business in a plantation owner by the front room access .
3 – whodunit emerging bulbs – I mentioned these in passing last week , rent ’s have a closer look . I come back there being bluebells , or something that looked a bit like a Eustoma grandiflorum , in this corner of the front garden before I dug it all up . Perhaps these are the remainder . Or , I planted light bulb I ’ve blank out about . Both are about equally probable , I ’d say .

4 – Pruned wisteria – I gave this a skillful seeing to last weekend . I last pruned it back in July , which should involve cutting back flexible stanch to 5 buds . I must have been in a haste , or could n’t be bothered to get the stepladder out , as there were a deal of such stems that I had n’t snip back . Not sure what the impact of that will be . I have made amends now , and it is all looking much tidier . I need this industrial plant to colonize the trellis on the other side of the arch , so have pass on integral and connect in some retentive stem on enunciate arch . Last class I made the misunderstanding of pruning these right back along with the rest . I have also tried to improve the coverage of the trellis against which it is embed . I did n’t aim it properly when it was a young’n so the flowering growth is all at the top of the treillage . I have “ carry ” some side branches to inhabit blue constituent of the treillage , having untangled them a slight first . We ’ll see if that makes any difference . I ’ve also attempted to amend the bedspread to the leftfield of the principal body , it ’s a piece lop - sided at the moment . My eventual goal is to have it trained along the side fence in both directions , rather than disappearing untrammelled up into the nearby Malus pumila tree . It ’s a study in progress .
5 – Chilli ‘ razzle-dazzle ’ , hibernate . I keep back one chilli flora from last year , I ’m seek to winter it . If it live the process into the spring , it should bring out a skillful craw than in its first year . Before store it in the heated work bench , I pruned about two one-third of the growth away . Right now , honestly , it is count a little bad for article of clothing . Leafless . One might be forgiven for cogitate it is a goner . sentence will tell .
6 – Nandina domestica . feature antecedently for its bloom and berry , pretty much a year - daily round characteristic of this shrub . I have described the leaves as being fair anon. in equivalence , but on image exposure of other more foliarly * impressive nandinas I run to have a closer aspect at mine . While most leaves are a fairly dull commons , some have colourise up a small . Even in their dullest fleeceable guise , the chassis of the leave are quite interesting . I may have been overly rough .

Have a great weekend , do n’t forget to check back in as links get added .
I ’ll be back next week with another Six on Saturday .
