Here are my Six for this calendar week .

– Blueberries .   I bought this little Vannevar Bush for a reduced price last year some prison term .   I know that blueberry like a boggy setting so I have been watering it bigly .   No yield !   I garner they also care an acidic ground . A good tip I heard is to shred the christmas tree as the pine tree needles provide a good hit of somewhat acidulent goodness to the dirt , if used as a mulch .   I imagine this only works with substantial trees , and dependable to remove the sprite lights first .

– tagetes .   A sorry tale of neglect .   I grow these from come this yr .   I acquire as far as prick them out , then to potting them on , but they ’ve not made it beyond that and are still ekeing out a rather lonely and piteous world in the corner of the glasshouse .   To quote the Orange One , # Sad .

– Dahlia ‘ rebeccas world ’ .   The photograph of these flowers on the Nyessens website were highly enticing , yummy even , looked like you could rust it for pud .   In real life they ’re not bad either ( to look at … I have n’t eaten one ! ) .

– phlox var unk .   I liberated this plant life from my female parent ’s garden after she foolishly agreed to let me grind a bit up .   Her definition of “ a bit ” and mine were intelligibly dissimilar , she is still dischuffed about the size of it of my removal .   I was able to divide my clump into two , and they are now flowering away .

– Gaillardia ‘ solemnization ’ . another bargain leverage .   Original price £ 13 , bribe for £ 3 .   Who buys plant at £ 13 each ?   More money than sensory faculty . Gaillardia ’s I ’ve had before have been predominantly yellow , this one is emphatically flushed .   It is currently parked in the cold - frame , the eq of the planes orbiting Heathrow , look for a landing slot .

– begonia ‘ yukon frost ’ . These caught my center as I was prowling the headroom section of my local garden centre .   I like the silver   leaves , not certain if it will bloom , or if it   had already flowered .   I ’ll be happy with just the foliage .   I have three of them , all in the same 30 centimetre patio pot .
