If you’ve never grown vegetables in raised beds before, I promise that once you do, you’ll be spoiled for the rest of your gardening life.
If you ’ve never implant vegetables inraised bedsbefore , I promise that once you do , you ’ll be spoiled for the rest of your gardening lifetime . But that ’s a risk you might be unforced to take . I grow things anywhere and everywhere I can and 9 time out of 10 , myveggiesdo better in the raised bed . Although , there are a few places in my yard where I ’ve been plant twelvemonth after year and thesoilhas been so well amended that it might as well be a raised bottom .
But if your natural soil has n’t reached that point yet , go for the raised beds . In a novel bed I ’ll either build acompost sandwichin it or add a bunch of soil from my compost pile along with some purchased composted manure or garden soil . There ’s no need to progress them to a specific profoundness . I ’ve grown in all different size from 6″ – 24″ and they all work equally as well .
The only time you ’ll need to take pause is if you ’d like to establish some especially longcarrotsor if you ’re originate Irish potato . In fact , other than potatoes , I ’ve never establish a 24″ thick necessary ( unless you like the fact that you do n’t have to turn down as far ) .

Some of the benefit of raised seam gardening are :
Hey , if you ca n’t pull bring up bottom off this twelvemonth , that ’s perfectly fine . I decidedly do n’t want it monish you from grow food and flowers just because you do n’t have raised beds . But they ’re incredibly ready to hand .
