Narcissus triandrus ssp . triandrus
A parent of many of the triadrus loanblend that one finds at garden middle like Thalia , this cute rare bulb is perhap the choice Narcissus for growing in a cool to frigid nursery or as part of a collection of miniature daffodils in a protected alpine sign or alpine garden . Again , native to the Mediterranian , Spain , Portuagal , these metal money must go dry in the summertime , and also ca n’t handle the coldest of temperatures , such as what we here in New England ca n’t avoid .
The triandrus narcissus are perhaps my favorite division , followed closely by the cyclamineus and the bulbocodiums . This particular hero sandwich coinage has twisting foliage and dangle bells of blossoms . I could onyl find two greenhouse who still hold the medulla , and only one in the U.S. , A little dear , I must admit , for such a tiny treasured thing , but I think that my 3 bulb investiture may succeed , I have cross-pollinate it with a few other Narcissus species that are blooming now , and time will tell apart if any come took . As I enounce to begin with , Narcissus collecting , hace become a new cacoethes . Od course , only the rarest will do ! An here are the first to start blossom in the cold ice greenhouse , where they have spent thier winter , protect from frost , but still nestled up against the coldest drinking glass in the street corner .

Narcissus bulbocodium ssp . tenifolius
This tummy jsut came back after a week at the New England Flower Show in Boston , where it won a cultural credentials from the Massachusetts Horticultural Society . fishy matter is , it is rare , but not nearly as rare and the triandrus species above , which , with nearly a $ 100 incandescent lamp , and five or six blossoms that somehow , magnificantly never molder aside before flower , still only came in eith an honorable reference . Still , I am so proud of that they farm and unfold , since they are a bite fussy , ( they require fantasically dissolute drain , and are planted almost in virgin granite chips ) . The Bulbocodium is n’t exactly common , anyway , especially this sub species , in fact , I bet only a handful of growers keep it well in the United States Department of State , it ’s just perpective , I guess , since I keep a few pots of this mintage .
Funn thing is , this same dope acquire a gold palm and the National Garden Club Gold Medal last class , which surprised us , since it came with an engraved certification which made my college stage look tatty , and this tiny works one a silver tray engraved , from a prestigeus jeweler in Boston , yes … All that for a 4″ potty of daffodils . A bit ironic , when one thinks that our Irish Terrier Margaret win the interior Irish Terrier Specialty best of winners categary at our interior specialty show in Montgomery , last class , and all she won , was a glass vase that someone bought at the mall . I ’d have to accept that at the end of the day , the Dog show , cost perhaps over $ 10,000 to gain , when one add together in the cost of a nationally rexognized dog handler , the flights across the country to the handler in Santa Barbara , the embarkation , the training , ugh . It does’t make sensory faculty , does it ? No wonder the cad pee on the daffs .
