“When life gives you lemons, make lemonade” is a proverbial phrase used to encourage optimism and a can-do attitude in the face of adversity or misfortune.
The underlying message is to make the respectable out of a unmanageable situation , to find chance in adversity , and to flex something electronegative into something irrefutable .
So how does that fit here ?
When some of my terra cotta deal fell off a shelf , many break in , and being a stinting horticulture partisan I decide to hang onto them and see how they could be used .

Back in the 80 ’s the one subscription cartridge I would get wasBetter Homes and Gardens . I loved that it had a flake of everything , base decor , recipes , and gardening tip and trick .
One article they had was on miniature gardens in dishes . Some call themFairy Gardensnow but these were more themed miniature garden . Back then there did n’t seem to be all the ready - made objects you could corrupt to make a miniature garden you had to make them yourself .
I keep open photos of those gardens for years but sadly I thrash them in one of my decluttering raid and rue it now .

But I took one feeling at the style this pot above broke and think it would make a fabulous base for a miniature succulent garden .
I have several Hens and Chicks ‘ sempervivums ’ in pots in my greenhouse and now a lot out in my garden .
Creating a Fun Mini Garden
Using the broken pot and fragment I put together a fun picayune mini garden I have bask for yr .
First I mix up some of my DIY Succulent Soil and site it in the bottom of the sight . I ensure to put a diminished shard of the throne over the cakehole in the bottom to prevent it from plugging up .
Potting Succulents for the Best Growth
Cactus potting mixing is a good pick for succulents or you’re able to create your own by adding some special perlite or some horticultural backbone to a quality oecumenical potting admixture .
When pulling off succulent babies to pot up it’s advised to let them ride out for a few days to cure over the ends . But I must concede I do n’t always do this .

This is a small 4 in pot so it took only a few to satiate it up .

This is a small 4 or 5 in pot but it was fun to practice with , I am sure these will quickly outgrow this but they do not take care being transplanted . For now it is the perfect size to sit in my windowsill .
